【EMI教師教學成果分享】112年03月29日--EMI教師教學成果分享會(二):EMI教學的理想與實踐
活動重點及目的:
為提升本校教師的全英語授課能力以及更了解EMI課堂中的情況,特別邀請本校醫學檢驗暨生物技術學系林培正教授來為老師們分享EMI課程理想的狀態與現實的障礙。
活動特色及執行情形:
此次活動是邀請曾經開設EMI課程的老師來其他老師分享上課的教學經驗,授課的醫技系林培正教授分享他在教授EMI課程所遇到的理想與困難。他提到EMI課程的優缺點,優點的部分是老師可以獲得額外的獎勵且還有行政的支持和資源,對於學生來說可以學到專業的英文,也對未來出國深造很有幫助,不過缺點是老師需要額外的時間準備教材,學生也要有相對的英文程度才比較好吸收。另外林教授也分享他的幾位學生在國外求學的過程,透過EMI課程能夠讓那些想出國讀書的學生有更多英文學習環境的接觸。參加活動的老師獲益良多,也希望EMI中心能繼續舉辦類似的活動。
This event invited teachers who have previously taught EMI courses to share their teaching experiences with other faculty members. Professor Lin from the Department of Medical Technology shared the ideals and challenges he encountered while teaching EMI courses. He discussed the advantages and disadvantages of EMI courses: the benefits include additional rewards for instructors, administrative support and resources, and the opportunity for students to learn professional English, which is helpful for future studies abroad. The drawbacks, however, are that instructors need extra time to prepare materials, and students need a sufficient level of English to fully benefit from the courses.
Professor Lin also shared the experiences of several of his students studying abroad, highlighting how EMI courses provide students who wish to study overseas with greater exposure to English-language learning environments. Participating teachers gained valuable insights from the session and expressed hope that the EMI Center would continue to organize similar events in the future.
